I want to port a few good extensions from FF/TB to Seamonkey-
QuoteColors for eg.
I saw an article on mozilla.org about converting extensions-
but it looks like it was meant for Seamonkey 1.x.
Now if version 2.0 is similar to Firefox, will the following work?
I open the install.rdf for a working 2.0 extension and copy the
following section:
<!-- Seamonkey -->
<Description>
<em:id>{92650c4d-4b8e-4d2a-b7eb-24ecf4f6b63a}</em:id>
<em:minVersion>1.0</em:minVersion>
<em:maxVersion>2.1a1pre</em:maxVersion>
<Description>
</em:targetApplication>

</Description>

and add it to the corresponding rdf of a firefox/TB extension I want to
use. It still doesn't work. Is there a workaround other than mostly
rewriting/packaging the extension from scratch?

You can also learn about it here:
http://users.skynet.be/fa258499/hackexttutorial.html

and if you run into problems, then the best experts to
ask about those things are over here:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=500361&sid=993b4eb7cf5a68f6550ec49fd2b4cdb4

now, some say that using Mr Tech seems to work at
making thing compatible by changing the max version:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/seamonkey/addon/421

or you can manually change the max version yourself.

Or, you can wait until the dev fixes their extensions.
That might take up to a month. Then again, maybe
they won't, then you'd have to do it yourself.

Or, do what I've done. You can add one of the
following to either your userChrome.css file or put it
into stylish:

http://userstyles.org/styles/1752
http://userstyles.org/styles/610

I used the last one in stylish:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/seamonkey/addon/2108
