On a laptop, I really notice how much Mozilla uses the drive. It's still
quite sluggish to startup the first time.

I can quantify that now: task manager shows that Mozilla reads 13MB from
the hard disk.

Starting IE reads 1kB :) yes I know that is not a fair comparison ...

Right. Starting mozilla has to read the Mozilla libraries into memory.

Right, because the IE libraries are already in memory -- some load at Windows
startup automatically, others are loaded by various other Windows apps.

85% of IE is preloaded in Windows.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/anti-scammers/ A new epidemic - the
Nigerian "romance scam": Nigerian crooks using dating sites, Yahoo chat
rooms and Yahoo messenger to con people. Using fake profiles with photos
of real models, they "romance" both men and women and then con them.

Is there anyway to do the same with Firefox/Thunderbird, i know IE is a
pretty integrated part of Windows now, but isn't there some way to
automatically load Firefox dll's each time i boot?

Putting the below in the "target box" under the shortcut's properties keeps
it in the prefetch once you've loaded it once. Works for me.

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" /Prefetch:1
