Also, how do I change the directory that Thunderbird and Firefox puts
the profile in?
thanks
James
Thanks James but what I want to change is the Default local directory.
So that I don't have to do the steps above evey time I create a new
account.
Close FF and TB. Now, using your file manager, *copy* your TB and FF
profile to a new location.
Then, for FF, click on Start, Run and enter:
firefox.exe -p
this will bring up the FF profile manager, and use that to create a NEW
profile and point to the new location.
Now, for TB, click on Start, Run and enter:
thunderbird.exe -p
and follow the advice for FF above.

If you have moved your profile to a non default location, new accounts
in that profile will be created in the profiles new location.
