In Thunderbird, how do I change the default Local directory that it
uses for accounts? I don't want C:\Documents and Settings\etc etc
etc...

Also, how do I change the directory that Thunderbird and Firefox puts
the profile in?

thanks

Copy your local folder to the location of your choice then go into
Tools/Account Settings/Local Folder and in the Local directory field
click on the Browse button to locate your new location. When you
re-start TB it will be using the new location. To test you can create a
new sub-folder in that local folder then use Windows Explorer, or its
equivalent, and see if the new folder is correctly located.

thats poor advice imho.

Close FF and TB. Now, using your file manager, *copy* your TB and FF
profile to a new location.

Then, for FF, click on Start, Run and enter:

firefox.exe -p

this will bring up the FF profile manager, and use that to create a NEW
profile and point to the new location.

Now, for TB, click on Start, Run and enter:

thunderbird.exe -p

and follow the advice for FF above.

If you have moved your profile to a non default location, new accounts
in that profile will be created in the profiles new location.
