Having problems with the TB address book. MANY entries and
I have gone to the address book and deleted the entries I do
not have any need for. This works when I close and then start
up TB again. But...if I shut down the computer and then restart
and to to TB, the address book now has all the deleted entries
returned. What the heck is going on ? ? Cant seem to delete
them permanently.
Thx
Gary

what programs have you got running in the background?
Firewall, anti-virus, malware checker, restore program,
or something else? Look for programs running when you
shut down and those in start up. Disable them until you
find the one causing the problem.

I miscommunicated when I described the problem. Thought it was only when
I shut down this was happening. Went back to experiment with other programs
running at startup, etc and discovered that when I delete addresses in the
address book, when I shut down TB on the desktop, then restart it during my
same session (no computer turn-off) the deleted address return !
Deleting them does not seem to work. If I delete them, then go back to the
address book without closing down TB, they are not there. Return only after
turning off TB and then reopening.
???????????????
Thanks

again, check to see if the files are marked as read only.

Also, I don't know what operating system you have so
I'm going to guess windows, when you shut down TB, make
sure its shut down by looking in the task manager
[ctrl+alt+del]. If you see it still running there,
then shut it down.

Also, what addons do you have? Maybe one of them is
causing the problem.

Try starting TB in safe mode. Close TB. Click on the
windows start button, then run and enter:

thunderbird.exe -safe-mode

this will start TB in its safe mode. Delete some
addresses. Start TB in regular mode, and do those
deleted messages return?
