The latest installers for Thunderbird do not work on some versions of XP.
However, Thunderbird's built-in upgrader does work.
So if the site sees you are running XP, it serves you version 38.5.
What you are supposed to do is install version 38.5, and then use 38.5's
built-in upgrader to upgrade to the latest version 45.2.

When I use Win7 and go to
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/all/
the latest is version 45.2.0. To see the version, hover over a link
and see the version number in the URL, for example
