Does anyone else here browse deviantart.com?

I find that it llikes to bring mozilla (1.0 to 1.6a) to its knees.

All I have to do is middle click on 3 or more images to open them in
tabs and mozilla becomes as slow as molasses. It's the only site that I
find does this on a reliable bases.

I don't know what to search for in bugzilla to see if any bug has been
assigned to combat the problem and I can't find anything with the word
deviant in it. Anyone got any suggestions on what I should be looking
for as to the cause of the problem?

All I see happening is slow server throughput and some pretty big
images. At least one was close to 400 Kb.

I have no problem with Mozilla on my very fast cable connection
downloading multiple mp3 files each of which is a few Mega bytes. If
you're on a broadband connection try downloading multiple large files
from another web site and see what happens. If you need a site to test
from: http://www.edmullen.net/Music.html. There are plenty of
megabyte-sized mp3s there you can experiment with downloading. If
you're on dialup that pretty much explains the problem.

I know the images are large, that's why I load them in the background.
The problem is if I'm composing an email at the same time it takes about
*2 seconds* per letter to pop in. That should have nothing to do with
the download speed. It's only on that site too.

I've had it happen on machines ranging from 2GHz to 100MHz and multiple
net connections (All marketed as high speed although some are only
30kilobytes/s)

Ahh. You didn't mention that your issue was with another Mozilla
component while downloading. Interesting. I'm interested to hear from
others on this issue. Because I haven't seen that problem consistently
here. Sometimes typing in mail/news will stall for a second or three,
but it's not while downloading files or loading web pages. I think it's
other background system activity. It's a little annoying but not so bad
that I've gone hunting for it.

Despite the cost of living, have you noticed how it remains so popular?
