I previously posted a question regarding this and got no replies. Since then I've discovered a few more things and would like to see if others can verify the problem. First, my setup:
Xubuntu 20.04 Desktop
Firefox 102.0.1
I have my windows setting set to: focus-follows-mouse
When I first load the Google Maps page, keyboard shortcuts (-.= for zoom, arrow keys to move map, etc.) typically do not work. If I rapidly double-click on the map, it will zoom in and then the shortcut keys start working. They continue to work until something steals their focus. I've found that if I use the . (period) key to toggle the Google Maps menu in/out from the left edge then the keyboard shortcuts stop working and require a double-click to reactivate them. Another way to disable them is to single click on the map where a location identifier pop-up window is displayed. It's as if these slide-in or pop-up overlays "steal" the focus and it is not returned to the map window until double-clicking once again.
So, are other people having a problem with keyboard shortcuts and can you duplicate this behavior? I'd like to get to the bottom of this since unreliable shortcut operation is almost worse than not functioning at all.
