Firefox 87 on Xubuntu 20.04

I'm not sure if this is a Firefox problem or not, but often when there is an embedded URL in a saved email attachment or in a link in a LibreOffice document or spreadsheet, when trying to access the link, Firefox comes up with the link preceded by "file:///<path to home>" -- in other words, the path to my home directory.

Example: In a LibreOffice spreadsheet I create a link to:

https://duckduckgo.com/

When I Ctrl-Click on the link, Firefox comes up with this as the URL:

file:///u/jeff/https://duckduckgo.com/

So, any idea why the file part is being inserted, and more importantly, any idea as to how to stop this?

Thanks.

Firefox 87.0 on Ubuntu 20.04.

I do not see that here. When I do this here, Firefox opens the web site with
this URL:
https://duckduckgo.com/

I created the link In a LibreOffice spreadsheet by pasting
https://duckduckgo.com/
as plain text into an empty cell.

I would wonder what steps you were following to create the link.
