Hi,

When using web based email (hotmail, iobox,...) reading attachments of
the type message/rfc822 seems to be very difficult with Netscape (both
4.7 and 6.0). I guess this has to do with any link that is of that type.

Clicking the link brings an empty window, even the html source is empty
(IE either displays the message of opens it in Outlook Express). If it
is possible to see the Content-Type in the url chaging it to text/plain
enables displaying the message in text format.
Trying to store the link proposes Inbox as the filename (this is with
web mail: hotmail,...) and if saved with that name saves some html
stuff, if the name is changed it may be possible to save the actual
email in plain text (IE displays the name correctly).

Even though I am talking about IE and hotmail this is not just
Microsofts implementation for forcing people to use IE, it is more
generic problem.
Is there any way to configure the browser so that it handles links of
that type properly.

Hotmail and IObox are not using RFC compliant code. When they
use the proper code, it renders just fine.

Funny that even Netscapes own webmail does not return the email
attachment as it is. It displays the complete message file ok. When
trying to download the message from the provided the link it shows the
content-type as text/plain and there is no possibility to download the
complete attachment (with all the email headers). Are you sure that the
problem is in hotmails, ioboxes and netscapes webmail and not in the
browser. What RFC are you referring to?

Hotmail uses Secure connections (Secure Socket Layer or SSL).
I see that you are using Mozilla 0.9 - have you checked:
Edit|Preferences|Privacy/Security
Settings are Reset and
Edit|Preferences|Privacy/Security|SSL
SSL Protocol Versions are all checked
I see that you use Windows NT and are probably networked and must set your
proxy configuration in:
Edit|Preferences|Advanced|Proxies
If none of this helps, try asking at:
snews://secnews.netscape.com:563/netscape.netscape6.windows
It should take you there if all the above settings are OK.
