I wrote earlier about Navigator 4.79 not being able to efficiently
browse Winamp.com. Now, I'm finding I can't even load NBCOlympics.com
to look at TV sport schedules. Can somebody please confirm this? I
recently reformatted my computer, so there aren't many programs
installed at the moment and I can't see how it could be a problem just
for me. Perhaps the web is simply advancing beyond Navigator 4.7x's
capabilities, and I was the last to realize this.

Chris,

I'm running Netscape Communicator 4.72 and NBCOlympics.com loaded but
slooooowly. The headers came first, seemed to stall but in about 10
seconds. it fully loaded. And I'm currently a Cox customer so you should
do just fine! Good luck. <:)

Loading www.nbcolympics.com on 4.79... and loading and loading......

It finally loaded but the drop down menu bars aren't working.
Loaded fine on 6.21 and IE 6.0...

Shawn, those yellow menus bars on nbcolympics..... sports, results/schedules
etc. have drop down menus you can access on IE 6 and Netscape 6.2 but not
Netscape 4.7x unless you download the msnbc plug in for them.

I wish I was so lucky. After about 15 seconds Navigator says "Done" at the
bottom but I have no pictures. Just the menu at the top (which doesn't drop
down) and a white screen and "Salt Lake 20002" logo at the bottom.
Sometimes I can get a line of text in the middle of the screen that changes
every minute or so. But no graphics. Could this have something to do with
AdSubtract? If so, I'm going to need to uninstall it, because I've tried
disabling it and it didn't fix the problem. If I uninstalled it, I would
just be trading one problem for another since I need a program to block all
those pesky pop-ups.

Probably not. It probably has more to due with the fact that NBC and
Microsoft are in bed with each other with a monster child conceived called
MSNBC. Thus nbcolympics.com would be optimized for IE and probably messed up
on Netscape on purpose.

I wouldn't so much blame Netscape as I would the folks at Microsoft and NBC.
bbc.co.uk has an excellent olympic site that loads great with Netscape 4.7x

LOL... you know... sometimes I really wonder about all of this upgrading and
so forth. I still have a fondness for NC 4.5. It never gave me one day of
trouble but like the rest of the sheep... I migrated on up the scale. And in
the end what did I achieve: a faster brower with more bells and whistles and
far more problems. That is my own experience, mind you. I can't speak for
the myriad of others who will doubtless say how wonderful the latest flavor
is compared with previous versions.

Using 4.79 it loads a bit slow but seems fully functional. Don't have any

Just loaded it fine and fast with Netscape 4.77 and Road Runner. You do
get a document done notice but then it starts accessing the other links
coded in the page so you have to be a little patient as it fills in the
middle because it's a graphics intense msn page.

Do you get the drop down menus from the yellow links on the page? It only
works with your mouse over it. Unless you have downloaded a special plugin
sometime, you don't get the mouse over in MSNBC pages using Netscape 4.7x

That is what was happening to me. I finally had to give up and
install 6.2.1 and it works fine...

BUT... I cannot get all of my cookies to get into the new program
defaults.

AND... I cannot get Eudora Pro to work with the program....

ANYONE HAVE ANY HELP FOR ME ON THESE TWO THINGS???

POST or WRITE to me PLEASE!

Can you search within the news group to find words?  My 6.2.1 install only finds numbers -- which makes the search engine 99.9% usless.  I've installed this version 3 times.  I downloaded IE6 and installed it.  I'd
prefer to stay with NETSCAPE, but IE6 has a better email filtering system and its News Groups can be searched -- numbers and words.

I use Forte' Agent 1.9 I never did like Netscape's news reader.
