Hello Dear All,

MeadCo has released Neptune -- a Netscape-compatible plug-in which
hosts Microsoft's WebBrowser control:

http://www.meadroid.com/neptune/

The purpose of Neptune is to allow any Internet Explorer-specific DHTML
content and/or ActiveX control to run as part of an HTML document within
Netscape and Opera browsers. Samples are shown here:

http://www.meadroid.com/neptune/sample.htm

Neptune will work when embedded in documents rendered by Netscape 3.0, 4.x
and 6.x, Opera 4.0-5.x and Internet Explorer 4.0-6.0 Public Preview One
running on any Windows platform into which Microsoft's underlying web
componentry is integrated. Windows 95 / Windows NT 4.0 with Internet
Explorer 4.0 core install is the minimum requirement.

MeadCo has developed Neptune in response to significant customer feedback
to allow its products Zeepe, ScriptX and Security Manager to be deployed
consistently right across a publisher's or organisation's Windows client
base, even in cases where Microsoft Internet Explorer is not the browser
of choice.

However the use of Neptune is not constrained to the deployment of
MeadCo's products and should -- we believe -- greatly facilitate the task
of cross-browsers content authoring for every web developer. Says
ScriptMeister Jim Ley:

" You've opened up the entire set of "plugins" for IE and made them available
to Netscape, Opera, etc. You've really increased their usefulness. "

Neptune's advanced features include:
========================================

* Calling the hosting document's scripts from Neptune's content

* Scripting the plug-in's WebBrowser control and its content from the hosting
document via LiveConnect (Netscape only)

* Customizing the visual appearance of the plug-in's WebBrowser control
to -- for example -- disable the right-click context menu or to create
the "look & feel" of an HTML dialog

* Using the hosting (top-level) browser's User Agent string or a custom User
Agent string for HTTP requests, so that server-side logic can be made to
'think' (or not) that the content is coming from Neptune

* The delegation of move/size/close calls from the plug-in's content to the
host (top-level) browser

* Invocation of the Internet Options dialog to -- for example -- allow a user
to customize proxy settings

Neptune can be referenced at no charge
========================================

Neptune is licensed to be referenced by authors and developers on their
web documents at no charge on the strict provision that all new users will
be directed to MeadCo's Neptune download page to collect the plug-in as
detailed here:

http://www.meadroid.com/neptune/about.htm

Free peer-to-peer support newsgroup for Neptune users is available here:

Neptune publishing license and SDK
========================================

Corporate and institutional customers can order a web/intranet publishing
license and the Netune SDK -- a self-installing plug-in executable,
together with tech docs and examples detailing all of Neptune's advanced
hosting functionality -- plus an entitlement to technical support and
product upgrades. An online order form can be found here:

We sincerely hope that you will visit the Neptune site and will find our
new product useful.

Best wishes

Completely disagree! Have you actually seen their sample of M$ website
running inside the Netscape page? Just look closely at what they do,
it's awesome! I wish I had it before.

Cheers,
Tony
