Look in the CACHE directory, or even in the TEMP directory that NS uses. If
there is a .JAR file of appropriate size and date, open it with FILE|OPEN in
the browser window. Ignore other JAR files.
When it hangs, try clicking on the download once again, if that choice is
available to you. If nothing happens, press ESC.

Try downloading it with smart update turned off.
Better still, get a computer magazine that has it on its cover CD-ROM
disk.

Installing the new version over the existing one (in the same folder) will result in all your
settings, mail, bookmarks, address book, etc. being preserved. Always has here, through every
version change since 2.x. However - it's always prudent to maintain backups of critical files,
whether upgrading or not. For Netscape, this means making a copy of your <username> (profilename)
folder and put it in a separate folder created for that purpose - maybe call it "netscpbkup" for
example. Your <username> folder in Netscape has all of these. Once a month or so, re-copy it to the
backup folder. Who knows when it may be needed?
