i've applied the same filtering strategy to my imap server with not so
great results. when a new message is filtered into a folder, that
folder's name may or may not turn bold and indicate that there is a new
message in the folder. basically, by using the message filter, i
sometimes don't know i have new messages since they have been filtered
into a different folder. this seems to only happen with folders that i
have created on the imap server, ie new messages that get filtered to my
local folders area always force the folder name to turn bold.
does anyone have a workaround for this, other than turning off the
automatic message filtering?
another issue, that is not quite as troubling is that when netscape
filters a new message to a folder, it does not do anything to the
message that is still in the inbox folder on the imap server. as a
consequence, my e-mail notifier that i use with linux doesn't know that
the message has been moved or read and consequently always shows that i
have new mail until i compact the inbox folder. it would be nice if
netscape had a feature that i could set to periodically compact my folders.
