setting the newsserver on Linux/KDE

I set the news server to my ISP's news server in Netscape (4.7 I think - not
sure how to tell) on Linux/KDE. When I click on News Groups, KDE hangs and
I have to hard boot to get it Linux back. The browser works fine. Any
