Opening an input stream to a file or URL in any Applet's method that is
called directly from JavaScript causes and access violation.
If the nput stream is opened from the Applet's init method (and thus,
not from JavaScript) works correctly.

P.S. We found this problem description in
<http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60120> and there it said
that it is fixed but not even passed to QA. I don’t know whether this is
somehow reliable information.

Thanks.

This sounds like a problem with the Sun Java plugin. Check the release
notes of the 6.1 preview release whether it has updated the plugin.
You could also try the oji group, asking around whether it should be
possible the verify the bug with NN6.1PR1, i.e. whether that comes with
a new version of the Java plugin which does away with all those
liveconnect problems. Or be bold and attach your concerns to the bug
itself. Usually you shouldn't do that with questiosn about NN6 releases
but I think the Mozilla releaes never come with a Java solution so you
might get a helpful answer.

The ability to call Java from Javascript and Vice versa relies upon

will be soon.

there are various threads on it in the Mozilla newsgroups.
