I have a JAR file that I packaged using signtool and a real Verisign
certificate. I then created an installation script to install this JAR file
into the "Netscape Java Classes" directory. The JAR file downloads there
fine, but I have to restart the brower before it can find and use that JAR
file. Does anyone know how to get around this?

Also, the jar file is signed, but every time it runs, I get a security
warning asking the user if they will grant permissions for my applet to
connect to an RMI server, and to download a properties file. Is there any
way around this? I guess this 'feature' is there so that nobody else can use
my java object (to which they granted permissions) to damage the users PC,
or violate their privacy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

I don't so much about this.
But I believe, you need the key file also as you have
used the sign tool.

Thank you for the response. What do you mean by the key file? I have
imported the certificate into Netscapes database, and I refer to it in the
command line for signtool with the -k option. Is that what you mean?
I think the signing is correct, but Netscapes JVM assumes that any function
call that was initiated by the browser (such as the call to init() or run())
is considered 'unsafe', and therefore any priveledged operation must be
authenticated by the user.
