I have been unsuccessful in getting the Java Console to work for Netscape 6
for Macintosh. I go to Tools | Java Console and
nothing happens. Does anyone know how to get this to work?

Bad news. According to:
http://home.netscape.com/eng/mozilla/ns6/relnotes/6.0.html#java
the Java Console does not work for Netscape 6 for Macintosh. "Choosing Java
Console from the Tools submenu of the Tasks menu does not launch the Java
console. This only works on Windows." This makes it quite hard to figure out
why an applet works in IE 5 for Macintosh but not in Netscape 6 for Macintosh.
Are there any workarounds?

The MRJ Plugin has a console built in to it. See the image at
<http://www.mozilla.org/oji/MRJPlugin.html>. Note the items in the
ConsoleApplet folder.

Unfortunately there is no ConsoleApplet folder on my system. System
details:
Netscape 6 installed from a CD.
MRJ 2.2 was installed with the operating system (OS 9.0.4).

Is there some way to get a Java Console under these circumstances?

Is there some special procedure to install it over an existing version?
