Java Wai - Connection reset by peer and REQ_PROCEED

I have an WAI application written in Java. I am having intermittent
problems with "Connection reset by peer". Subsequent requests result in
"Broken pipe". The service has to be killed and restarted. Last time
it handled 126 requests successfully before this happened.

I am trying to enhance the app to give better diagnostics. I would like
to check the result of the HttpServerRequest.StartResponse() method, but
the document says that the integer value is either REQ_PROCEED or
REQ_NOACTION. Of what object type are these static attributes? I have
tried everything I can think of, but no success. Can anyone help me out
here? I would be very grateful.

Also, does anyone have any idea why I am getting this "Connection reset
by peer" error? I am running NES 3.5.1 on Sun Solaris.
