Hi,

I added a sort feature to my existing form which was genrerate a list of
items through SSL. Thsi sort button will invoke the same CGI that
re-display the page and working fine. However, I can not got back the
previous page using back button. The "Data Missing (document expire
from cache) " message is displayed instead. But this does not happen in
HTTP mode (non-SSL). My browser is Netscape browser 4.6 . Is there
difference how Netscape cache the page netween https vs http? Is this
SSL related behavior? I really appreciate any idea regarding to solve
this problem.

IS your server using a "nocache" header on the https response, to keep the
page out of the browser's cache?

Lots of servers do that. That would explain this behavior.

Communicator doesn't store https pages to the DISK cache by default,
but it will remember them in the RAM cache, unless the server tells it
not to remember them in ANY cache. That's usually a mistake, IMO.

(Please continue to direct all followup questions to these newsgroups. Thanks.)

Normal https (secure) servers don't cache data, lest the person sitting down at the
terminal next be able to use the back button and change your purchase.
