iPlanet TLS and VeriSign Global Server ID

I have having a problem using a VeriSign Global Server ID which I am using
in JSSE to connect to an iPlanet which has the VeriSign Intermediate CA Cert
installed as trusted and has client authentication turned on. I realize that
this ID was intended to be used in a server role but this works fine in
Netscape Enterprise 3.6. So I was wondering if the V3 extensions (all of
which are non-critical) are being interpreted differently buy the the
iPlanet's TLS engine or is there something else that I am missing here.
