I select encryption "on" and it automatically changes the port to 443. It
then gives me an alert box telling me that I will need to shutdown and
restart my server. Then I am given a screen where I have the option of
"Save and Apply" or just "Save". If I press the "Save and Apply" button, it
pops up a brand new window (without the menu or tool bars) warning me about
sending the information in the clear and asking me for the internal
(software) password. Is this the trust database password or the password to
get into the admin? When I enter the password and hit enter (on my keyboard
b/c there is no enter or submit button in the new window), the server just
hangs. The server isn't able to shutdown and restart. When I press the
"Save" button, it gives me an alert that the changes were successfully
saved. But when I go to shutdown and restart the server, the server crashes
and won't restart. In both instances, if I try and shutdown the server from
the Services panel, it tells me the server cannot be shutdown in its current
state and if I try and restart the server from the Services panel, it tells
me that the request to start has already been made. I even tried using the
"Save" option so that it would just write to the config files, and then a
hard reboot of our NT machine, but that didn't solve our problem.
We are running iPlanet 4.1 Enterprise server on NT with ColdFusion, JRun
(which I have now subsequently stopped its service), and Oracle 8i on a
seperate server. All this (the trial ID and enabling encryption) was done
within admin for the server that we are trying to enable SSL on and on the
server admin (I selected the server, and pressed the "Manage" button). I
have no idea what would cause this problem, but it seems that others have
had some problem with enabling encryption on iPlanet. Thank you in advance
for any all help.

Son
You're having a problem with adminstration of the particular server you're
using. Please discuss it in the newsgroup for that server. Thanks.
