Every time I right click on a picture from a web page, my browser, which is
IE 5.0 saves it to my Netscape program. Shouldn't it open in a photo
program. I can't seem to find the photo editor that is built in my laptop
(the hard drive was reinstalled), but since then I have installed a clean
Photoshop?
How do I get pictures NOT to open in Netscape?
Thanks in advance.
David

In article <anlka...@enews2.newsguy.com>, puc...@cybercomm.net
says...

Simple way.
In explorer or my computer, SHIFT+right click on image file.
Open With
Select program and make sure "always open with this program" is checked.
Voila.

This may or may not change the ICON for the image file. You have to do
that in explorer/my computer under View/Folder Options/File Types

A little OT:
In IE 5.x when you right click on a picture (in browser), one of the
selections in the menu that pops up is Save Picture As... When you select
(left click) this item you get a Save picture box, This is a Windows standard
Save as box, you can navigate to any drive or folder on your computer with
this box, just click on the drop-down arrow in the "Save in:" text box. Save
the picture in a folder and filename where you can find it. You can even make
a new folder from this box. (Click on the button that has a little folder with
the star on the upper right corner).

Then start Photoshop and open this file in Photoshop (photo editor) from the
File menu.

Still having trouble-
After clicking on my computer/view/folder options/file/JPEG I get this:
C:\PROGRA~1\INTERN~1\iexplore.exe" -nohome
It doesn't look like Netscape, so why is Netscape opening? Should I leave
this? or change it to another and if so what do I enter?
Thanks.

PS-had to cross post again, as I didn't know where you read original
message.

Dave, I am not sure what you are saving. Your computer does not SAVE
files to programs, it saves them to your hard drive, in some folder.

OPENING a program is something else. Do you mean when you click on a
filename it OPENS the image in Netscape? That is a file association
problem, as others have said.
