Hi,

I'm using Netscape 7.1, and having some trouble with the mail program.
I'm trying to change my POP3 mail server, but when I try to fetch mail
from the new server, it doesn't ask me for my new password. It keeps
trying with the password for the old server and (not surprisingly) keeps
failing, with the mesg:
"The PASS command did not succeed. Mail server mail.x.y.z responded:
[AUTH] Invalid login"
How do I get it to ask me for my new password?

Thanks in advance

- M

PS: remove "S","P","A","M" from email address to reply

Open Tools>Password Manager>Manage Stored Passwords. Find the one for
your POP3 server and delete it. You'll be asked for a password next
time you try to get your mail.

Yup, that did it. I'd actually looked there earlier, but the password
was stored under the name of an even older server (yeah, I switch email
servers a lot), so I ignored it... the reason it had been working until
now was that servers 1 & 2 had used the same passwd. Phew! Thanks

Hi,

Go to Edit>preferences>Privacy & Security>passwords. Click on password
manager and review the stored passwords. One will be for your previous
POP server. Delete it. Close the program. Restart. When you go to
retrieve (and send if you deleted the SMTP password) it will ask you for
your new password.

Has worked for me many times.
