Hello all!

We are 3 weeks out from an important milestone!

For those of you who don't know: We are planning on placing Al Gore
on the California Democratic Primary Ballot. California Election
Codes allow for the collection of signatures for an "unselected
canidate" (somebody that the California Secretary of State doesn't
simply place on the ballot as having declared an interest in running
and having support in the state). But it only allows for it in a
short window. This year, we have from October 8th to December 4th.

We are a bit lucky because the primary is so early. If we are
successful, imagine the momentum that would could bring Al Gore into
the Presidential Primary spotlight! The timing would be perfect for a
December entry of Gore into the race. The momentum and chatter into
the beginning of 2008 and Super Tuesday on February 5th would be
unstoppable!

The task is big, but not insurmountable. We need 500 signatures from
Democrats in each District in California. There are 53 districts in
California, but our volunteer base is pretty big.

But it can always be bigger! If you are in California and want to
help, shoot me an email. Or forward this to those you know in
California that you think can help out!

Thanks a ton!

There are Al Gore "sleeper cells" across the state and the country...
waiting for the time to move. The time's now. I'll be helping out with
a friend (or ten) either here in LA where I live, or in the 45th (Palm
Springs / Mary Bono) where I'm registered. Just tell me where you need
us.

Just for everyone's benefit...

First off, I got it wrong, because October 8th is only 2 weeks away...

If you want to do it on your own, what you have to do is go to your County Registrar of Voters (ROV) and get the proper form.  They will only be available starting October 8th (though that is Columbus Day, so some offices may be closed that day).  As for the petition of unselected Democratic Presidential Candidates.  If there is a question about which form, the relevant Election Codes are 6061, 6101, 6108, and 6122.

While the signatures tallies are counted per Congressional District, the signatures themselves are collected on a county by county basis.  Each form has to be picked up from and returned to the appropriate County ROV.  There is a bit of an infrastructure already in place, so I can also get you in touch with the relevant "regional coordinator."  That may make things easier as far as distributing and returning the forms.  Getting these sleeper cells aware of this effort would be great, because the signatures we collect for this effort will actually place Gore the ballot in a very real way.

Thanks!

Gabi
