Friendly nudge to get things back on-topic for this discussion group.

As the charter of the group states:

Discussion relating to netrek:

* bronco - standard netrek, aka xtrek][
* chaos - wackiness
* hockey - netrek hockey!
* paradise - bigger galaxy, more players, upgrades
* INL - standard clue play
* sturgeon - crazyness

OGG THE BASE!

As such the Sun Server thread is now officially closed as it is
off-topic for this group. If Jeremy needs further information on
Sun Server maintenance, be it requirements or certifications, he may
contact me off-list.

Thank you for your understanding of the need to keep topical discussion
groups on topic.

John, do yourself a favor, take 6 months off of Netrek and get a life.

I am truly sorry that you can not understand the very basic
concept of a topical mailing list such as this one. It's
quite simple, actually - on-topic issues, such as those I listed
in my previous reply are fine as they are specifically
permitted and listed in the group policy statement (which is
available from http://groups.google.com/group/netrek-forever);
off-topic posts and threads such as the one that started all
this are not on-topic, and therefore not permitted here.

Nor are personal attacks and insults such as your reply.

The rules are simple and quite easy to follow. And as I
have spoken with the group owner who agrees with my stance
on off-topic discussions no further comments on this issue
are warranted.

So, I am asking you once again to please refrain from off-topic
discussions in a topical discussion group such as this. Really,
it's not difficult to do. Reply off-list if you need to but
lets keep on-list discussions relevant and topical.

Thank you for your understanding.

Yes let's stay on topic for the good of the group and everyone's
edification. Now who has something to say about netrek? :)

Netrek is included as one of several games to be played at a holiday
camp that I'm leading on week after next.

The network of computers we will have access to cannot be changed, so
we'll be booting via PXE from an Ubuntu LTSP (terminal server), or from
CD-ROM using a remastered Knoppix with a server and clients built in.

And I am truly sorry that you can not understand the very basic tenets
of being a decent human being. When someone asks for help, you do not
whine about the request being off-topic, you take time out and offer
what help you can. It is truly sad that you are incapable of basic
human empathy.

Hi friends,

I get double mails from this list, both to my hotmail and to my googlemail account. How can I unsubscribe the hotmail account version? I'll try sending "unsubscribe" and let's see what happens.

The information is in the mail header:

List-Unsubscribe:

Read the headers of the message, it will give you the unsubscribe keys.

Or ask one of the moderators to do it for you.

googlegroups do not under standard listserv command sets.

I've gone ahead and manually unsub'd your hotmail subscription.
