Cannot Connect to Server with COW

I have been trying to connect to the pickled server using COW, but without any success.

When I run the client, the server list appears as expected. When I click on pickled.netrek.org, it turns blue and pops up a message that says "playing," but nothing else happens.

The console logs the following messages:

netrek: Can't find font -*-lucidatypewriter-*-*-*-*-40-*-*-*-*-*-*-*. Trying others...

sound directory sounds missing

connecting to pickled.netrek.org on port 2592

connected

*** buffer overflow detected ***: terminated

Does anyone know what might be causing this error or what I could do to fix it?

Yes, I know. A bug. May have been fixed, but don't know what version
you are trying.
