I'm about to revert to the previous version. Is that safe to do?
It is nice to see that a new version has come out since the change in
ownership and I look forward to future versions. Thanks.
I have the same problem, except that it lasts longer than just a few seconds. I have basically given up on NetNewsWire and maybe even RSS feeds, unless I can find another reader that works like NetNewsWire. I am not sure if reverting to the old version will work but using this version is regularly staling my entire computer -- just like if I stalled the car. Equally frustrating. It may be related to how many articles I have open, but that too is not consistent. There is of course the problem with the BBC feed but I think that too is unrelated.
I am wondering if this is related:

Clear out items in the TabThumbnails.noindex folder when no longer needed
~/Application Support/NetNewsWire/TabThumnails.noindex never gets purged of no longer viewed tabs. My wife's machine ended up with over 80,000 files in that one folder, and her entire machine started slowing down. (Yeah, I know, it sounds bizarre, but once I cleared out that folder, the slowdown that had been bothering her for months went away immediately. Limitation of MacOS X?) We purged it, which, btw, takes forever in the Finder. I had to drop to Terminal to do it effectively. Well, four months later, it's back to over 10,000 items. She only has a few tabs open. Apparently tab thumbnails never get deleted. I'd call this a bug.
I would suggest that perhaps tab thumbnail purging should be tied to the value for keeping news items in NNW (Prefs -> General -> Archiving.)
