I would really like to be able to keep the latest 10 (or whatever)
posts of every feed all the time. It's a real pain if you want to go
back later on and read something later or just check what the latest
post was about and everything is gone. I can't think of any reason
this shouldn't be the default behavior. It's not like the iPhone has a
small and limited space.

Wouldn't a "Mark As Unread" button be a better solution to your
problem?

I personally have a problem with some feeds from Italy that are
continuously publishing articles under the wrong date. So I have a
bunch of read articles displaying above new stuff and forcing me to
scroll to get to the new content. I really wish these mislabeled items
would just disappear.

Why not star them? Then they'll stay under Starred Items until you
unstar them.

I've had this problem, too. Usually I just tape one of the read
articles, then hit "Next Unread" to jump to the first new post.

Mark As Unread and Starred Items does not solve my issue. I want to
keep all posts just as it works in the desktop version. I can see why
some might prefer the current behavior but i really don't. Atleast add
an option!

NetNewsWire for iPhone will not keep all read posts indefinitely (or even for a long time). The issue is performance. It's an awesome phone -- but still doesn't compare to your Mac when it comes to speed.

I totally get that lots of people are using their iPhones more and more, and that for lots of things they've become desktop/laptop replacements. If, in the future, the phones are fast enough to be able to retain read items, then I'll re-consider this issue. But we're just not there yet.
