Dear all,

I am a little bit confused how to start NetLogo in GUI and Headless mode correctly. E.g. under Windows there are the following files:

  1. NetLogo.exe and NetLogo_Console.exe (JAVA-Opts seem to configured via cfg-Files NetLogo.cfg and NetLogo_Console.cfg under app/)
  2. Nelogo-gui.bat and NetLogo-headless.bat (JAVA-Opts seem to be configured via the Batch-Files directely)

Why are there these two modes? What is the difference? Which is the better way to run NetLogo in GUI- and/or Headless-mode and why?

Thank you all in advance!

Wolfgang

For running the GUI in Windows, you can just use the NetLogo shortcuts installed in the start menu, or the NetLogo.exe in the installation folder.

For instructions on running NetLogo headlessly with NetLogo_Console.exe, see the BehaviorSpace documentation:  https://ccl.northwestern.edu/netlogo/docs/behaviorspace.html#running-from-the-command-line

The GUI and headless batch files are there to make it easier to run NetLogo with a version of Java different than the one it comes bundled with.  You can just ignore them if you don't need to do that.
