Hi, everyone. I've been trying to get files to work via applets on
the Modeling Commons, and I'm beginning to wonder if it's possible.
(I should note that this comes on the heels of my making it possible to
use all standard extensions within applets on the Modeling Commons, as
of earlier today.)
Specifically, I did some monitoring of the HTTP request that comes in
from an applet to the Modeling Commons server when a NetLogo model tries
to load a bitmap with bitmap:import command. Even when I get the server
to respond with the appropriate JPEG, I get a runtime error.
I cannot copy the text of the error, but you can get it by trying to run
the applet for "Snakes and Ladders," at
http://modelingcommons.org/browse/one_model/3617
It seems to my naive reading that the bitmap extension is going a bit
crazy trying to load the file that came over the network. But maybe I'm
wrong?
Is this something that we can fix? (Is it something that we want to
fix?) More fundamentally, is this a problem with the Modeling Commons,
or with NetLogo?
Any suggestions and advice are welcome!
