Hi All,
NetLdn17 has been and gone and it was a great success! Thank you to everyone that attended or helped in some way, we hope that you enjoyed it. We also look forward to seeing you again at future events. If you couldn't make it, don't worry, we meet on the 2nd Thursday of every month.
== NetLdn18 ==
NetLdn18 will be on Thursday the 8th of April 2021 (that’s tonight!) and will be held via Zoom. The Zoom meeting details will be sent out to the mailing list from 6.30PM UTC onward, the event will start at 7.30PM UTC sharp. Please join the Zoom lobby before 7.30 PM, to allow for a prompt start at 7.30PM, and don’t forget to set your full name.
We’re pleased to announce that NetLdn18 will be another special combined event with our NetMcr friends. We have three talks tonight with some Q&A time after each. We’ll also have a 5-minute comfort break between talks. After the final talk and Q&A we’ll leave the Zoom room open and everyone is welcome to stay and socialise.
Talk 1: An update on the UK Frequency Plan
Hot off of the press from the recent radio frequency auctions, Andy's here to give us an update on how the dust has settled on the mobile network frequency allocations in the UK, how that will affect the 4G and 5G networks. There may even be a little speculation on what else may happen in the near future (if we're very well behaved).
Presenter: Andy Sutton
Talk 2: Viking Monitoring: A very punny adventure!
Supercomputers! Yes, no, really. York University still maintains a supercomputer, by the name of Viking (of course). But how does one look after such a beast? More precisely, how do you keep track of 175 compute nodes all working together? Nat's unique insights into how the University monitor their clustered supercomputer is sure to be an enjoyable & informative run through looking after one of the more illusive style of networked systems.
Presenter: Nat Lasseter
Talk 3: Your Forwarding Plane as Code: How, What, and Why
Aaron will spend ~20 minutes arguing that if you love YAML (who doesn't?! -ed) then you should love P4. If you’re all about infrastructure as code, then hooooo boy let’s talk forwarding plane!
Presenter: Aaron A. Glenn
After Talks: Networking for Networkers
Stay in the Zoom meeting room and have a free-for-all chit-chat about whatever is on your mind. This is a bring-your-on drinks and nibbles session.
== Registration ==
We've removed the registration temporarily. A Zoom URL will be sent to the NetLdn mailing list and shared in the NetLdn Slack this evening, and that’s all you need.
