Over the next few days, I'll be sending out different promotional messages on on the NetIP-Austin FB wall. Please try to like or respond in some way (or get your friends to respond).

 

I just posted an online trivia question.

 

If there are questions you're answering (online trivia), get some wrong.

 

The general idea is to build buzz, and we have only about 7 days (not counting the mem-day weekend)

The great room is inside the leasing center to the back of it (right by the big pool). So I am thinking we should give this address. Once the event starts the leasing center will be closed and so people will have to use the entry door by the pool to get inside the great room. But if we just tell them that and give this above address I think it should be fine. Riata said we cannot keep any signage anywhere. I wish that was possible for us to point people to the entry door for the great room. But if we tell them it is the door right in front of the big pool next to the leasing center and the gym they should be able to find it. Also we will have ticket sales tables there by the entry door as well.

There is parking for leasing center and also on the other side of Riata Trace Pkwy (opposite from the leasing center) inside the technology park (I mean where the companies are located).

I just spoke with Mehul about this and I think your best bet would be to post in the event itself. The more traction you can gain in the event, the more exposure it will get organically in News Feed. Posting on the Netip profile page distracts and divides your potential audience between the posts they can see. Essentially, it's a good idea here to put all your eggs in one basket. 

Once someone posts on the Event Page, everyone should go in and like it and comment on it. This type of activity will help the event appear in others News Feeds (people that are friends with Netip) and will help the ads I've set up gain more traction as more folks register.

Its a great point, but here is the problem:

 

by posting in the event page, we are sending out a message/alert to every person on the invited list. Please correct me if this is not the case.

This is tantamount to spamming people who might not be interested, and could have a lot of negative effects on future attendance.

 

By posting on the wall, we expect an organic buzz build up, via multiple re-posts, likes and people answering. Unless FB no longer works this way, this might be the best case without being intrusive and annoying to our "friends" on FB.

 

For the above reasons, I do not prefer sending multiple messages (from NetIP Austin atleast) on the event page. Two message in the final week as reminders, yes absolutely!!

 

If you think my assumptions are incorrect or if you have an alternative argument, let me know and we should real quick discuss this tomorrow on the phone; we can write kb's of email going back and forth :)

Hey Vinit,

Definitely - if users aren't responding to the event yet, then they would receive a notification. However, if you're doing it right, hopefully they wouldn't see it as spam! I'd recommend posting there every 3-4 days to remind users that the event is coming up. 

Again, the same rules apply to the post on the Netip profile page. Everyone should comment and share it so that it shows up in the News Feed of your friends. This is the best way to ensure that it gets more distribution than it would automatically (which is something that is definitely needed).

We're up to 50 yes' and 22 maybes on FB. For reference, we were at ~ 70 yes' and 50 maybes (Roughly) last year that translated to about 75 attendees, of which some had not even rsvp'ed on FB.

Please note that we have another NetIP event tomorrow, so Bollywood Trivia will be "off-air" till tomorrow evening.

FYI - here's how the FB ads are doing. Reach is about 1300, RSVPs are at 9. In general, the more you can get people to RSVP to the event, the broader the audience will be that this can deliver to - ignore the 20 users show in the targeting information, that is a known display error. This ad will continue to run until May 31.

Sumina, I am a little apprehensive about the "less" seating comment you made on the event page. 

The reason being, if someone decides not to buy the ticket right now, that person might just think, " hmm not enough seating,  chuck it". Guess what, we just lost that person from the show.

I would suggest we give out positive vibes, for e.g. " get your tickets to guarantee a seat" as opposed to " if you don't buy now you might not be able to sit". It's the same I know, but I think the wording matters.

Also, again referencing last year, we didn't have Any pre sales and it worked ok, and right now we aren't hot enough to overbook. So, it is a tight line between cajoling them to buy tickets to lock them in, and putting them off. 

Contrary thoughts?

The update as of now is 66 yes and 37 Maybe on FB, bringing the total to 103.

 

Based on approx empirical data from earlier BT's and some other events, we should be expecting about (# of RSVPs)/2 ~ 50

(we had about 150 odd rsvps and 75 attendees last year)

 

I think the number 50 is already awesome considering the short marketing push and non-restaurant venue. It is also ideal considering Riata's capacity.

 

With some luck, we might need to turn people away :) .

 

I will make one NetIP wall post tomorrow and one final "reminder" post on the event wall on Saturday mornning. If you have any inputs, email me directly.
