Improving RSS Reader to be a real replacement for Google Reader's API

The RSS Reader example app has a "few limitations". It would be useful to improve it to the point where it could be used as a backend API for apps that currently use the (soon to be) dear departed Google Reader API.

Functional things that need doing:
User login authentication (OAuth or whatever)
OPML import/export for migrating feed lists in/out
Google Reader API for backend

Operational things that need doing:
Build AMIs for each of the components and a CloudFormation script that deploys it. (this is on the Netflix to-do list now that AMInator is out).

There's been some discussion of how to get it running in its current state at the google group for that project

Is anyone interested in basing some Cloud Prize work on the recipe?
