Function: Customer Installations

Reporting To: Telecoms Manager

Summary: Responsible for configuring, upgrading and installing a range of
Cisco routers both in house and on customer sites. Specifying
configuration details and testing installation to customer satisfaction.
Updating all administration and network systems to include customer
details. Working with Telcos to co-ordinate line installations and
planning installation schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

Network Configurations: Physical and soft configuration of routers to meet
customer requirements, while maintaining company standards.

Installations: Installation of routers on customers' sites, liaising with
both customer and suppliers, to complete installation to highest possible
standard.

Documentation/Administration: to maintain the integrity of all Network
drawings and information systems by ensuring that all changes and
modifications are documented.

Technical: to be aware of router configuration, telco and customer
requirements and be able to install equipment with awareness of all
possible problems.

Escalation: to inform Telecoms Manager of any problems encountered during
an installation which will delay the scheduled installation date or cause
a customer problem.

Test Equipment: to be familiar with the basic operation of all test
equipment and diagnostic aids regularly used for installations.

Network Management: Performing updates to databases and files to maintain
the integrity of systems following installations.

Other: performing hardware/software upgrades or providing support as
required.

Technical Skills:

Minimum of 2 years in a Network Management field support or installations
role encompassing LAN and WAN technologies. Preferably with Frame Relay
experience, and must have experience of routed networks, preferably Cisco.
PC literate.

Personal Skills:

Team player with good interpersonal skills capable of working under
pressure using initiative to resolve problems. Organised and logical
working methods, used to working to procedures and maintaining systems.
