Interface object fields

Hi all,

I have seen that many users are using Netbox to trigger network provisioning automation to configure their networks. This is really cool use for the webhook framework, but there are some aspects of a device interface that is not represented, like the configured speed, Duplex, Autoneg, FEC, and so on.

My initial thought was this would be easy to solve with a custom field, however it does not exist. Then I noticed a strong resistance to adding custom fields to the interface object, in the list of closed issues. That was a year ago. Is there any chance of revisiting custom fields on interfaces, or minimally adding a few optional fields to the interface object?

Thanks,
Jason

This has not changed. Custom fields were never intended to be a general store for configuration parameters and will perform very, very poorly if used for this function.
