V2.9.0 from 2.7.11 upgrade.

We're seeing all devices appear in Elevations view as full depth devices.

Those devices that aren't full depth don't have any details in rear view.
Those that are full depth have a description.

I've checked both bug and this forum and can't see this issue. Any ideas please?

Cheers,
Rob.

Can you describe what you mean, or show screenshots showing how 2.7.11 and 2.9.0 are different?

There is shading to indicate when the opposite side of the rack is occupied.  That's normal and expected.  You can still populate the near side.

Perhaps relevant:
which in turn came from from one of the SVG regressions listed at

However if you were on 2.7.11 you should already have had that behaviour.

Here is the change which re-introduced shading when the opposite side of the rack was occupied:

This was included in v2.7.2 onwards.

Apologies for awful shot, but company security restriction prevent attachments.

All the devices here show that you can't add anything in the back.

We don't have 2.7.11 anymore, so can't show a shot from that.

Regards,
Rob.

Can you describe *exactly* what you mean by that?  What are you looking at, what do you do, what do you see, what do you expect to see?

For comparison, from my home network:

This looks correct to me.  The device name is not shown in the rear elevation because these devices only exist on the front, but they are hatched to indicate that the position cannot take a full-depth device.

The only issue I can see is that in the SVG, if I hover over the rear elevation, the "add device" link only pops up for positions 2 and 3, but not for 1/4/5/6.  Is that what you mean?

However if I go to Devices > Add, then I can select a non-full-depth device and add it to any rear position without problems:

which gives:

So with 2.9.1, it's not true to say "you can't add anything in the back".

Appreciate the input and agree that you can still add a device indirectly via the devices > Add device path.

Previously we were able to view the rack in the rack viewing page, at /dcim/racks/nnnn/ , choose a rack, then choose location and add directly into the rack at the rear even if the device was installed in the front.  So in 2.7.11 we would have been able to select the rear of your rack above at RU5 "sw1" and install by clicking the RU of the Rear image.

The issue I'm highlighting is that we have no ability to do this in 2.9.1.

That's now a specific, reproducible problem and you can open a ticket for it on github.  To reproduce:
- add a non-full-depth device to front of rack
- open rack elevation view
- the "add device" link does not appear when you hover over the rear position
