All,

While the Google Group has served us well these past several years, the maintainers team has decided to close it. There are several motivations for this decision:

1. Since the launch of GitHub Discussions in late 2020, we've found it to be a much more suitable forum for the project: It's much easier to reference both code and individuals, and to cross-reference discussions and issues/PRs. Most of the conversational traffic seems to have drifted that way already; there's been relatively little traffic on this mailing list recently.

2. GitHub discussions provides a question-and-answer format similar to Stack Overflow which is very handy when searching for a problem that someone has likely already solved. It also better enables recognition of community members who routinely engage with and assist others.

3. We've noticed an increasing number of issues with mailing posts being falsely flagged as spam. Whether this has resulted from people erroneously flagging messages as spam (instead of unsubscribing) or from the somewhat unusual content that occurs (random code snippets, IP addresses, etc.) I'm not sure, but there's not much we can about it.

We're going to close the Google Group to new submissions on March 1st. Its history will be retained for future reference, however no new members will be permitted to join and no current members will be able to post. I strongly encourage everyone who hasn't done so already to register a (free) GitHub account and join us over on the NetBox discussions forum. See you there!

Jeremy
