While I'm unable to address the issue of vegi-cats, I can say that our pet
rat is a vegetarian, and seems to be doing quite well. I don't really know
if a rat is a carnivore, but I'd assume they are since (ugh) sewer and wharf
rats seem to eat *anything*. But our rat (Tom) seems quite happy to eat what
ever nuts, grains, table scraps, candies, or cheeses that we offer him. I
might also add that while my family was on vacation, our rat-sitter managed
to really fatten the little bugger up on what ever he found in the kitchen
cabinets.

re: the vegetarian rat ...

I believe rats are omnivorous, same as humans, and so can live quite well
on a vegetarian diet.
