Idea for a work-group

I want to get a Los Angeles area group together to create a forum for
trying out new monologues, scenes, and stand-up material. It would be a
no-fee, constructive-criticism-only venture, the monthly (weekly?
biweekly?) venue for which would be found/provided by a different
'member' for each meeting.

If you're like me, the hardest part of getting a monologue together or
honing your audition skills is getting someone besides your Mom or your
girlfriend (who thinks you're crazy for wanting to be an actor, anyway)
to do this kind of work with BEFORE you do it for a director, casting
director, or agent. An acting teacher is going to tell you what will
keep you bringing the money to him/her (alternatively encouraging you
and telling you you '... are almost there - just a few more
classes...'. And your friends, well. I compete with my friends.
