From the Times - March 7th
[article about excessive bouncers in cricket]
....
The suggested change will go to the International Cricket Conference in July
and could become operative in time for tours next winter.
....
The TCCB want the start of Law 42(8) to read "The bowling of short pitched
balls is unfair if, in the opinion of the umpire at the bowlers end, they are
either frequent or by their length, line or height are likely to inflict
physical injury on the striker standing upright at the crease.
The relative skill of the striker should also be taken into consideration."
[re-printed without permission - but I suspect that the Times management are
desparate for printing :-)]
