Michigan chokes again

Final from Sunday's NCAA second round game at Minneapolis:

Iowa State 82, Michigan 79

For the second year in a row, Michigan loses to a team it should have
beaten. Obviously the shot clock didn't help that much. The tournament
unfolded for them exactly as last year - barely beating a patsy in the
first round ( last year Farleigh Dickinson, this year Akron ), then losing
in the second round. Does this mean that Iowa State will win the national
championship? Probably not, but you never know...

On a brighter note for us Michiganders, Michigan State showed they are a
team to be reckoned with by trouncing Georgetown 80-68. State has a very
tough test next, as they play #2 Kansas. If they can manage to knock off
the Jayhawks, they are Final Four bound. ( Prediction: Kansas by 8 :-( )

Damn those Wolverines! First they outwin us Illini during the regular
season, then they outchoke us :-)

MSU doesn't surprise me. They played well down the stretch, except for
the Indiana game, and if you had told me only one Big 10 team would crack
the Final 16, I would have given the Spartans serious consideration despite
their schedule of initial games (maybe not despite, Georgetown didn't impress
me that much this year.) It's too bad they draw Kansas now; whoever wins that
may only be a Duke away from going all the way.
