O.k., you Laker, Nugget fans can argue over which team will
take the West (it will be one of those two), but the real race for me
is between KC and Seattle. To wit, can Seattle lose enough games to
beat out KC for a spot in the draft lottery? It's a close race, but
I think that Seattle just might make it. With Sikma gone, they could
lose every game and no one would suspect that they were throwing in
the towel on purpose. KC, on the other hand, has no excuse. They
are a rotten team, but they've got to win some games. Sikma, though,
*is* the Sonics. Without him, Seattle is dead.
As a Sonics fan I am, of course, rooting for a successful
nosedive. It is not that we need the no. 1. pick; Ewing would be
great, but Seattle doesn't need another center. Sure, you could move
Sikma to power forward and let Ewing dominate the paint, but that
isn't what Seattle needs.
How about this: Seattle gets a top number in the draft and
trades the pick to Boston for Kevin McHale. With Sikma, McHale, and
Cedric Henderson together, Seattle would once again have the
potential to go all the way. It would take a few more key players,
but at least they wouldn't be stuck in the doldrums as they have been
the past few years. Wilkens is a good coach, if he has the horses to
work with.
Go Sonics! Turnovers, missed free throws, lost rebounds,
I'll cheer them all. Less is more, I always say, especially if it
more in the long run.

Horrors. If Ewing got in a Boston uniform, the Celtic forward line would really
be the ugliest in history.

It would also be tough to stop.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm,

Why would Seattle want to trade Ewing for McHale? I realize that
the Sonic front office is not the best judge of talent but no could
do this could they?

Why would Seattle trade Ewing for McHale? I realize the Sonic front office is
far from perfect but they're not that stupid, are they?
