net.rec.disc / L.A. disc activity inquires

I am having trouble determining if my inability to receive/post
to net.rec.disc is due to a problem with our (DEC's) Usenet gateway and
redistribution or is simply a result of net.rec.disc no longer being an
active group. Has it been killed or dropped by the backbone sites? If
it is still an active group, have there been any postings in the past
four to six months? Don't all answer at once now... B,)

I am very interested in all areas of disc play and a bit of
collecting as well. Discussions with others via netnews or e-mail on
any aspects and issues of the ol' plastic flatball are welcomed and
encouraged. The Boston area is very hot Ultimate-wise, but I crave a
regular dose of freestyle! And an occasional round of golf at a pole
hole course wouldn't be unpleasurable either. Oh alas and alack, I think
there is maybe only one pole-hole course in all of New England -- and
it's over a two hour drive away. 8,<

Oh well, if I can't get to net.rec.disc, then I will have to have
those discussions here. 8,) I will have occasion to travel to L.A.
soon, and I would like to know: where are the pole-hole courses in
the "greater" L.A. area? where (if any) are the spots that the
stylers like to hang out and jam? when's the best time to run into
people there? I'd very much appreciate any info on this. Thanks in
advance.
