Those of you who get HBO, this month they are running a
made-for-network-tv movie called SKOKIE. If you haven't seen it, it is
one of the best films you will see this year. Of course, I have a
particular predilection for films about philosophical conflict in which
the answers are not predigested for you. SKOKIE is a film about two
groups of people, both of whom are absolutely right, who are
nonetheless in conflict with each other. One group is the Jewish
community of Skokie, Ill.; the other is the ACLU. (I didn't want you to
think I was saying the Nazis were right.) This film is well-acted and
totally engrossing.
Also on cable this month is START THE REVOLUTION WITHOUT ME. It has a
number of weak points, but when it is funny, it is very funny.
