I had a friend who owned them all. I watched them. I was hooked from tape
one. I wached them again. The friend moved back to St Louis so I went out
and bought my own set. I have yet to see BGC or BGCrash in it's entirety
at /any/ video rental place, so, since I want my other friends to see it
and get as into it as I do, I own them so I can show them to friends and
at SF Conventions.

I liked Vampire Hunter D as well, and Tank Police are another series,
though those can be seen individually withougt losing anything. I kind of
like Sailor Moon, and I love Dirty Pair.

As for Akira, well....no one understands that....

KIND of like Sailor Moon. Sigh.

Do I need to subject you to various Japanese episodes when I'm next through? :)

Le Video, on 9th Ave. and Irving, right south of the Golden Gate.

Well, from what I can recall of the little I have seen of it, tis the best
rating I can honestly give it...

: Do I need to subject you to various Japanese episodes when I'm next through? :)

Yes, please, would enjoy. Since I have not an account anywhere, renting
them is not feasable, and I am leary of spendin my extremely limited funds
on buying tapes that I don't know I want to watch over and over again.
Once I hae had a better exposure to them, I will most likely be fully in
your camp on the Sailor Moon issue (since I seem to like a lot of things
you like).

Have you seen the dub or the sub?

Unfortunately, renting the Japanese version is next to impossible unless
you can find either people who have somehow managed to get raw Japanese
tapes (I'm told Tower sometimes gets them) or people who have no ethical
objection to renting fansubs or bootlegs (they exist -- in Toronto anyhow).
So you wouldn't be able to get them easily anyhow.

I have an increasing collection of fansubs, and will likely drag them to
Windycon (at least the Holy Grail episodes of S and one or two of the movies).
There's video clips kicking around the net at well -- haruna.simplenet.com
is the only site that I know is up.

Ack...I am currently reading Dossie Easton & Catherine A. Liszt's "The
Bottoming Book", so you can guess what I just parsed that as asking...no,
bad Cyohtee, she said DUB not DOM!!!

Unfortunately it was the Dubbbed. I prefer the subtitled usually.

Let me know and I can arrange to bring a VCR to windy, assuming you don't
come out sooner.

Doh.

You haven't seen Sailormoon, then. It's as simple as that.

*nod* Assuming Some Things Go Properly next week, I'm thinking of making
a quick trip to Chicago in April. Assuming I can find the money.

I've managed to pick up 1,4,5,6,8 in Forbidden Planets over here, with
fair odds on the other three (as subs, of course); BGCrash dubs are dead
easy to find, but who wants them, anyway?

You're talking UK availability, babe, not US. (We don't have Forbidden
Planet. We have Chinatown Centre Mall and people like Rose[1]). Hamilton
is an exception, not a rule: you can get BGC as sub or dub dead easy, and
Crash and AD Police a bit less easily bu lo nonetheless, but I'm slowly
coming to the realization that that may be more due to the demand of the
local otaku society than anything. I have not seen the stuff commonly
available elsewhere; I've seen it in older packaging at Windycon, but that's
a *CON*. Hell, I've barely seen it in TORONTO.

[1] Rose runs Bayshore Hobbies, which has toys in the basement, gaming supplies
in the main nook, collectible chess pieces and board games in the foyer, and
a HYOOGE anime rental section (with a little chop-socky) as anime rental goes
in the nook next to the main... she's damn good with knowing what to stock,
although stuff's a little dubheavy, but I suspect that's more availability
than anything. Rose's store redeems living in Hamilton. :)

Remember to avoid Easter Weekend, as a number of us will be in
Minneapolis, thus would not be able to be there to watch Sailor Moon Vids.

Actually, most of the Sun Coast Video stores I have been in carry the
entire series, and if they are out of a tape, they can order em pretty
fast. Plus if they are on sale you can find em for as little as $12 US a
tape. The main place you will never seem to find the entire series is in
Rental Stores. Apparently we Anime Buffs don't constitute enough revenue
to carry them in the owners minds...
