A Warning to Parents: ACID TATTOOS

The ACID TATTOO story is discussed in the collection of Urban Legends, _The
Choking Doberman_ by Brunvald (sp?). The author researched the story and
could find no factual basis. It's usually attributed to some police force,
who when questioned, either know nothing about it or merely passed along the
story they heard from a "friend of a friend" (FOAF).

I've noticed many Urban Legends circulating on the Net (the book cites the
USENET as a reference for one story !); I'll bet many of you would find
_The Choking Doberman_ or the earlier book, _The Vanishing Hitchhiker_
interesting reading. Expect to find a cherished belief shattered somewhere
in their pages...

I don't know, but this looks suspiciously like an "urban legend" of
the "dreadful contamination/threat to children" variety. The easiest
way to follow this up is to find the source....a "friend who knows
someone" doesn't count. Find the person.

Jan Harold Brunvand (or one of your University of Utah acquaintances),
are you out there? Is this one archived in your folklore sources?
