"Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana"

That's no joke -- it's a paradigm for the difficulty of natural language
processing. Reminds me of an early (50's) experiment in word-for-word
translation. "The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak", when translated
from English to Russian and back, came out "the vodka is good, but the
meat is rotten".

Along the lines of the computer translation of "the spirit is willing
but the flesh is weak", someone fed the phrase "Out of sight, out of
m,ind" to a computer, which translated the phrase into Russian, and then
translated the Russian phrase back into English. The result was,
"Invisible insanity."
