Kind of a charming story, and I wouldn't say that ICANN is really
mishandling the situation in a gross way, but:
* There seems to be an uncritical assumption that owning .pn will help
bring email service to the island. I guess maybe the model here is
that selling .pn domains can bring in some cash which could pay
telco bills?
* There is no discussion of the interests of people who have
registered names in .pn. Although ICANN should generally be
deferring to people on the Pitcairn Islands on such matters, it
seems a bit odd (and detached from internet operational concerns) to
not even mention the subject.
