The newsgroup net.history.general is presently the only group in
the net.history.* hierarchy and may remain so for some time.

As such, any historical topic is fair game here. However, it is
asked that contemporary political bickering be kept to a mininum,
although no enforcement of that request is planned.

Those readers interested in this policy/charter statement or the
evolution of the net.history.* hierarchy may either contact me or
conduct a thread in followup to this weekly posting. At this point,
you are encouraged to do so. Note that, given the present volume,
no new groups will be created without extraordinary circumstances.
