Legionnaires #62 "To Bell The Ball"
Spoilers....
"Balance of Power": Apologies for being brief, too much happens this
issue and I have little to say about any one thing, plus I'm starting to get
a headache.
This is part one of a six part Dark Circle arc, which means it's almost
solid setup and almost no resolution. Many, many things happen or at least
start to happen. Among them are:
Lori feeds XS a line about her powers coming from her excess temporal
energies (which no longer exist, of course). Jenni's suspicious, but seems
to accept the excuse for now.
The Dark Circle frees the other Durlan Living Weapons, and the
government of Durla has already realized the new leader is incompetent, so
they go behind his back to seek Reep's aid. Guess we know how he gets out of
the twelve years of penance...sentence commuted so he can bring back the
Living Weapons.
For her part, Jeka sees the injustice her father is visiting on the
worker species in order to increase output of Orando's mines, inspires her
brother Willum into organizing the laborers, and then abdicates her
birthright in order to leave Orando and do something more about the overall
situation. Unknown if she's also ditching her Espionage Squad mission in the
process.
Most interestingly (to me, anyway), the Sisters of the Eternal Cosmos
assign Laurel the task of standing up for the Durlans...a major test of her
own ability to see past her xenophobia, eh? The persecuter becomes defender
of the persecuted, and she didn't even have to go on the road to Damascus.

Finally, the whole spuds-in-globes issue is addressed, as well as the
Gil-Dan/Gil-Dishpan deal, but I'm still mildly confused. Time to excavate
some back issues, I suppose.
